A Little Bit About Morrinsville
Known as “The Cream of the Country”, Morrinsville proudly takes its slogan from its strong dairy heritage. Founded in 1873, it is one of three towns in the Matamata-Piako district, alongside Te Aroha and Matamata, and lies at the heart of one of New Zealand’s most productive dairy farming regions. The farmland surrounding Morrinsville is often described as some of the most intensively dairy-farmed in the world.
Home to around 10,000 people, Morrinsville sits at the northern base of the Pakaroa Range and on the south-western edge of the Hauraki Plains. The town combines rural character with modern growth, serving as a hub for farming, business and community life.
Just 30 minutes from Hamilton and within easy reach of Tauranga and Auckland, Morrinsville offers a blend of country living and connectivity. Visitors can enjoy boutique shopping, vibrant cafés and the town’s iconic Herd of Cows street art trail - all part of the warm, welcoming spirit that makes Morrinsville truly the Cream of the Country.
